Thanks, Shawn! I think being stubborn might be similar to the automatic responses we generate to fears (fight or flight). We may have been deliberate in setting our behavior and then shifted to stubbornness when someone challenges us -- rather than reconsider. I think all of us struggle with stubbornness.
